We welcome emerging artists, someone new to the area or maybe it's a unique media. If you are an artist that would like to be featured, contact us about the possibity of being one of our Artist of the Month. We are usually booked 8 -12 months in advance but who knows? It might just work out.

Rick Filosa

Rick Filosa - April Artist of the Month - April 13th. Saturday, Noon to 4PM is our Meet and Greet.

"In 1977, my professional career brought me to Cedar Rapids and I have lived here ever since. For most of my career I was involved as a design engineer, with an emphasis on CADD drafting and 3D modeling work. In the early 80’s, I watched a PBS show featuring William “Bill” Alexander and several other artists including Robert Warren. His enthusiasm and unique painting style fascinated and inspired me. Using his books and materials I learned and developed my skills in his unique wet-on-wet technique. In 2015, I became anAlexander Certified Instructor (ACI). For the last several years I have continued studying with my friend and mentor Robert Warren. He developed his own unique style of painting, much different from that of Alexander. He has helped me challenge myself to explore different subjects and techniques in my creative journey."

Artist talking to artists

ARTIST FORUM EVERY SATURDAY 2 PM to 5 PM

A little over a year ago a new artist to the area came in and we were talking about staying motivated. He mentioned that, even though he was an experienced painter, he sometimes found it hard to stay motivated. I told him we had been kicking an idea around here at the gallery about a weekly or monthly open meeting for all artists to just get together and talk. His eyes lit up and you could hear it in his voice how excited he was about the concept. So we proposed it to our gallery artists at our next monthly meeting and BAM! The Saturday Afternoon Club was started. But it isn't a club, it is a get together of artists of all ages, all medias and all skill levels to talk, motivate and share. Whether you are a student, a beginner or a seasoned artists, we invite you to stop by any Saturday. Come by, maybe work on a piece, share your experiences, ask questions, request a critique or just some social time. There is no membership, no program and no dues. Maybe have a glass of wine or juice or water. We'll share some snacks. We are just artists being artists.
